The McClellan Saddle was adopted by the military in 1859. It was the most commonly used saddle by Federal forces and often copied by the Confederates during the war.
All our McClellan saddles are made with heavy harness leather. The trees are new, made to our specifications, and covered with rawhide. The saddle is ready for you to ride as it is complete with a blue worsted wool girth, rigging, skirts, fenders, stirrup leathers, and six (6) coat straps.
The hooded wooden stirrups have a 3" tread and leather toe guards for safety. Brass mortise shield plates are used on the cantle and pommel.
We use correct black STEEL dees, rings, staples, footman stands, buckles, and saddle bag stud. This saddle is our best seller.
Also available without coat straps and girth.
