The Jenifer is the newest addition to our line of saddles. Made of havana
harness leather, it is a beautiful, rich, dark brown color. Steel hardware,
CS pommel shields and clip corner slot plates make this the perfect saddle
for anyone who wishes to portray an authentic Confederate impression.
There were numerous variations of the Jenifer saddle. Some were completely
leather covered with an English style rigging. Others were extremely
skeletal an had no fenders or skirts.
Most Jenifers were used by
Confederate cavalrymen; however, there is at least one known artifact that
was used by a Federal and it appears to have been a pre-war purchase.
General Custer also owned a Jenifer saddle.
